Change of Plans

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  Jeremiah 29:11

After my house has been for sale over 70 days in a market where most houses sell within a week, I am coming to the conclusion God is telling me I need to stay in the Denver area a little while longer.  Therefore, unless I get an offer by the end of this week, I will be taking it off the market at least until next spring, and settling in for the winter.  With that being said, I am a bit disappointed in that I won’t be moving as quickly on my dream to move to Buena Vista, but excited to stay another winter near so many dear friends I have made here.  I know and trust God will reveal to me the perfect timing in whatever He has in mind for me to do.

I have to share about coming to the conclusion I need to stay a bit longer in Littleton.  As I was trying to make this move happen, I kept running into obstacles.  I finally asked God if the obstacles I was running into was Him telling me it was the wrong time to move, or the wrong location.  I prayed that He speak to me clearly through a dear, trusted friend led by the spirit on our walk the next day.  My friend and I began walking, and without me telling her anything about my concerns and prayer the previous day, she began telling me that she strongly felt maybe the reason my house was not selling was God telling me now was not the right time!  She had also talked to someone who lived in Buena Vista the day before, and from her experience wondered if Buena Vista was the right place to move.  Wow, I thought what an immediate answer to prayer.

I have mixed emotions about the delay.  As I mentioned, I am excited and relieved to settle in my comfortable home among so many dear friends in this area for the winter.  However, I am disappointed to wait on plans to build a new home and yoga studio in the country near beautiful Buena Vista.  I realize God’s timing is the best, and only He knows what the future holds.  Meanwhile, I also realize that we can find contentment and happiness in any situation, as Paul writes in Phil. 4:12 “….I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation,….”  This past week I taught a couple classes on the 2nd Niyama, Santosha which means contentment.  As I mentioned in my classes, having a thankful attitude is a huge factor in being content.  I am thankful for my wonderful son, my lovely home (even if no one wants to buy it….I love it!), my precious pets (which were most likely a big factor in no one wanting to buy) and the dear friends I have made.  I am thankful for my dharma, my calling to teach yoga and help others physically, emotionally and spiritually.  There is nothing more satisfying than to hear my students tell me how the class intention inspired them, or how yoga helped them avoid surgery and alleviate pain.

With the change of plans, I have begun co-teaching a Saturday morning class with a fellow Holy Yoga instructor at Restoration Community Church.  I am also subbing for Yoga Pod, Club USA, Foothills Recreation Centers and my fellow Holy Yoga instructors.  I’ll keep you posted on regular classes (including Chair Yoga!) I will begin teaching.  If you know of a church or venue who would like to host Holy Yoga (including Chair Holy Yoga), please let me know.  I will also be teaching private lessons, and am planning some on-line class series.

I hope and pray this Thanksgiving finds you with many things to be content and thankful.
